Physical Therapy And Injury

When we think of physical therapy our minds usually come up with images of work related injuries, or a sports injury.  While therapy is needed for these types of problems there are other types of physical therapies that are at times needed too. For example people who have had hip or joint replacement, arthritis, osteoporosis, and even people who have balance problems can benefit from physical therapy.

People who suffer from ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke and spinal cord injuries usually receive Neurological Physical Therapy. Sometimes children have problems with fine or gross motor skills. Physical Therapy And Aging Baby Boomers

The baby boomer generation is aging rapidly. Yet, baby boomers are not like previous generations. Americans are living longer and are remaining active well into their sunset years.  Most boomers simply do not want to slow down. However, sometimes injuries do in fact stop them. Yet, physical therapy can have many of these aging boomers back in action before they know it.

Many boomers are content to stay in the work place as long as possible. While boomers try and stay active, they are not teenagers anymore and their bodies respond differently than when they were younger.  Certainly, they still have some pep in their step, but the body does become more rigid as age sets in.
